RUST TRAIN PLUS with ZIPLINES Update
The first incarnation of a Rust rail network will be released as part of the April update. This month’s update also adds powerline zip lines to help get across the area easier, as well as new achievements, improved lighting on monuments, and more.
The monthly update for Rust will be released on April 7 at 11 a.m. PDT / 2 p.m. EDT / 7 p.m. BST. More information will be available on the official site at the same time, but for now, the developers have issued a press release outlining the major features. The new procedural train network is the most important. “Any map size 4250 or greater should have a single railway in the shape of a ring wrapping around the entire island,” according to this update. For the time being, this is merely a tech demo/proof of concept, therefore there isn’t any official gameplay. Please report any strange-looking areas you come across. You can expect drivable above-ground trains in the near future.”
On procedurally created levels, you’ll also uncover new platforms and zip lines atop specific powerlines. These will allow you to travel rapidly along the powerline chain or to nearby monuments.
The lighthouse, fishing cottages, stables, excavator, and arctic research base all benefit from the monument illumination makeover. However, the developers claim that the airfield is the actual star. “Not only have we added new lights and darkening volumes here, but we’ve also adjusted certain materials and added a lot of new props dressing to bring it up to par with our newer monuments.”
The developers are also continuing to test Steam Networking capabilities, which should boost performance in the future but are now disabled by default. ““We plan to migrate all servers to Steam Networking by default in the medium term,” the developers explain.
