The biggest update to Dust 2 in years has arrived!

The mid-doors were not visible from T-Spawn, which was a huge issue at previous events. The opening of the double doors is blocked within Dust 2 for the first time.

It was stated that CTs who retreat to B-site on Dust 2 must always cross the twin doors, which the Ts fire through while praying to RNGesus, and you will almost certainly take a hit and perhaps even a headshot, and it will suck the big one. From Seattle’s mountain top, however, come fresh holy commandments: “Blocked view of mid from T spawn in Dust 2. Really!”

I kept the faith, even when nasty players said you weren’t listening. In all seriousness, this is a significant change to one of CS: GO’s most popular maps, and it’s long overdue. It never made sense to me that one of the game’s finest maps had a roulette-like aspect at the start that might greatly limit CTs’ initial firepower, and now it doesn’t.

New cosmetics have been added, including new avatars and weapon skins. There’s a fresh take on the objectives, with weekly challenges to be completed for stars that may be spent on items of the player’s choosing, such as new avatars and weapon skins. CT Frog Men from the SEALs are among the new skins, as well as French Gendarmerie cops. They also come with some fantastic videos: Valve’s sense of humor has not aged a day.

Operation Riptide introduces a new way to play competitively: short matches are 5v5, with a best-of-sixteen series (first to nine wins) that Valve claims will last about 25 minutes on average (I typically expect a ‘normal’ competitive match to last twice as long). Players may now also create private Premiere mode games with the use of a code, entering as teams or leaving it up to the matchmaker.

The new M4A1-S rifle, which includes the ability to throw grenades for teammates to collect, is one of the most significant gameplay modifications (yes!). The CT go-to weapon, the M4A1-S, has been buffed and now does more damage to the body. The Deagle was nerfed a bit, now doing a little less bodily damage (yes! ). The dual Berettas have decreased in price somewhat but are still garbage.

4 new weapon collections are included, one of which is without a doubt the golden AK-47 I’ve ever seen

There’s also a riot shield, which was last seen in the older Counter-Strike game. And there’s a riot shield, one of many forgotten pieces of kit from earlier Counter-Strikes. Don’t worry; it’s only available in casual hostage mode maps at the moment.
