The issue arises from the in-game post of an “over-sexualized transgender female figure.” The poster clearly shows a transgender woman as a corporate useful selling tool. The artist says that the game already has transgender characters, and this one is an honest depiction.
Many games either don’t or can’t represent trans-gender characters because portraying them is quite difficult. In this aspect, CD Projekt Red is doing some appreciatable work, but their representation got issues. Though this isn’t the first time for CDPR, it’s their most-recent issue with the trans community.

The name of the product Chromanticore origins from the mythical creature made of different animals. This, along with the “Mix It Up“ slogan, isn’t much encouraging either. It was more like mocking a transgender person’s appearance. In the character creator, the player can choose any body type with any genital combination. This marks good progress, but the character’s pronoun and pitch don’t have a non-binary option, making the name totally useless. The perspective of giving trans people’s validity through their ability to blend with others is quite damaging and further alienates trans players.
The lack of trans story characters and the developer’s problematic statements from the past bring quite a lot of trouble. It isn’t making success to the transphobic picture of the game. Also, Cyberpunk 2077’s character clearly portrays CDPR’s lack of understanding and sympathy. They still have to know more about trans experience and their representation from a less mocking and more positive angle.
