Before we talk about The Sims 5 Release Date let’s take a look at the history of sims.

The SIMS franchise had started its successful journey 2 long decades back in 2000, within 2 years selling close to 11.3 million copies across the globe. And hence ruling the gaming industry by becoming a bestseller. Various expansion packs and deluxe editions later, Sims 2 released in September 2007 in collaboration with Game production giant EA (Electronic Arts). Which was succeeded by Sims 3 in 2009 and Sims 4 in 2014, with all of these being huge successes as well.

During the release of SIMS 4, producer Grant Roddick stated the following: “We are not working on the next part. We are not thinking about Sims 5. If Sims 4 isn’t successful, there won’t be a Sims 5.”

The Sim 5 Release Date Speculations

But looking back at SIMS 4, we can clearly say that the game was a huge success for EA, which accumulated a thriving community and eventually led to the release of a mobile game version in 2017. Still, at this point, we are not even sure if a new SIMS game is under development. Usually, there has been an average gap of 5 years between a new Sims game. But given that SIMS 4’s undergoing expansions, one can speculate that a new version is underway, and EA might release a statement. But at least for now, it’s implausible that a new game will come anytime within the next 5-6 years.

Features of all Sims games

But at this point, the main focus of EA is to milk the popularity of part 4 to its core before making any major announcement, as the potential of SIMS 4 is yet not fully unleashed from an economic point of view. Also, every SIMS game has introduced a major technological advancement. The Sims 2 featured a full 3D environment for the first time. In contrast, Sims 3 featured a truly Open World. On the other hand, the Sims 4 introduced the character creator with direct manipulation; hence it may not be wrong to assume if EA comes up with a VR environment game (fingers crossed).

The Sim 5 Release Date Predictions

With all of this taken into contemplation, we expect that the release date of The Sims 5 will be organized around late 2020 or early 2021. And not to mention this beautiful pattern and the fact that 2020 will be the 20th Anniversary of The Sims. Still, we won’t know for sure until EA makes an official announcement.
