The Series Background
The Conjuring started with the story of supernatural things happening in an England house, causing its inhabitants to flee from there. Ed and Lorraine sealed the doll in a cabinet in their home, safe from the world.
Annabelle tells the story of a possessed doll that causes mayhem in the life of a couple. Ed and Lorraine sealed the doll in a cabinet with spells, safe from the outside world. Annabelle: Creation is a prequel to Annabelle that explains the creation of the possessed doll and dhow it landed in the hands of the couple previously mentioned.
Conjuring 2 again features Ed and Lorraine as they try to help a young girl who was possessed by a demon. The Nun is a 1952 story that explains how the demon came into existence. It is based on a plot in post-World-War Europe. Annabelle Comes Home, a recent and the last entry in the series, talks about the story of how some guests in the Warren Residence accidentally opened the cabinet containing Annabelle in the Warrens’ absence, causing the demon to wake up again. Judy, Warrens’ daughter, played an important role there.
While this is the third direct Conjuring story, and there is not much to tell about, the story is based on the murder trial in 1981 in Connecticut. James Wan is a fantastic author and can pull out anything from nothing to make the series interconnecting and exciting. This will of course is not the last film of the series, with a new Annabelle film in the talks.
