Call of Duty: World War II: How Is It Different?

Published on:

Call of Duty is known for delivering the best in class action titles. If you are a gamer, you must have crossed paths with this series one in a while. There are numerous titles of the series today, but some games do stand out from others. Every game has its background story, and today, we will talk about the game, Call of Duty: World War II, one of the recent titles of the series.

WW2 Theme, yet again!

There is no shortage of plots regarding the legendary war today. We will find hordes of games remembering the 1940s war, like Brothers in Arms 3, Call of Duty: World at War and many more. But this game is special, because it gives you more than the frustrating Deja Vu feeling.

Call of Duty: World War II: How Is It Different?

To avoid spoilers for those who have yet not laid their hands on the title, the best way to describe the game is to say that the campaign is awesome. Some players even think the WW2 campaign to be the best among all the previous titles. Sledgehammer Games did a beautiful task, both with the storyline and the graphics. Also, be prepared for an emotional ending. The game also features zombies and a quite fantastic plot based on it too. There is also a multiplayer mode in the game, which is a must these days to be honest.

What is Different?

The gameplay is a bit different and may hit you hard if you have not played the first two games of the series. The game does not feature automatic health regeneration. To some players, this is an awful step the developers have taken. Here, the only option to improve health is to find health boxes in the map and use them. No more hiding in cover and getting health replenished.

The game lets you do a lot of things, and it depends on the stage you are in. At some stages, you can control vehicles. Sometimes, you can capture enemy soldiers. Sometimes, you can drag allies to safety. The gameplay and environment are as realistic as they can be, with weapons and battles very much the way it actually occurred 80 years ago.

Multiplayer Mode

The multiplayer mode lets you join one of the two sides, called Axis and Allies, and fight in a number of game modes available. It is quite similar to today’s Call of Duty: Mobile Multiplayer mode.

The modes available are Armoured, Infantry, Airborne, Mountain, Resistance, Commando, Cavalry and Expeditionary. The game also has a social space, called Headquarter mode.

Zombie Mode

Zombie mode was first introduced in Call of Duty: World at War, and this time has taken it further. Nazi Zombies come as waves and attack the player, who has to singlehandedly defeat all of them. A class system gives players some benefits while combat. This is also present in Call of Duty: Mobile Battle Royale mode. There is also a short storyline explaining the zombie mode, which is quite good too.

Final Verdict

There is a lot to play and watch in the game. The game was released in 2017 by Sledgehammer Games, and was published by Activision. It is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The game received positive reviews and was nominated for numerous awards. It also contains downloadable content that contains various new maps.
