In its “Days of Nature” special event, the developers used the in-app purchases to plant trees. with one tree per purchase. The event was released to celebrate Earth Day. A total of 40576 trees were planted in Amazon and Australia, where trees were damaged in forest fires.

The game reportedly donated $1027340 to help the doctors during the 2020 pandemic situation. The game continues to be popular among mobile open-world game lovers.

Collectibles and items are found in the map and are also available in the in-game store. The seasonal events in the game has a different currency and can be played to acquire new items and collectibles.

The game received positive reviews and Metacritic awarded the game number one shared iOS game in 2019, and the most discussed iOS game of the year. The game received multiple nominations from organizations like the 18th Annual G.A.N.G. Awards and The Game Awards 2019. It won the Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards for the Pocket Gamer People’s Choice, and also the Webby Award for the Apps, Mobile, and Voice: Best Visual Design – Aesthetic.

The game deserves mention for working for noble causes. It also announced the #PlayApartTogether movement, bringing players worldwide online and allowing them to play together in times of social distancing.
