Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the Japanese CGI animated movie is getting its 4K remastered version this year. Directed by Tetsuya Nomura, written by Kazushige Nojima, and distributed by Square Enix Holdings, the film released on September 14, 2005. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2005)
The film events take place two years following the events of the 1997 video game Final Fantasy VII. The story revolves around a trio that captures kids affected by a disease, as the hero tries to rescue them all. The film was released on DVD on 14th September, 2005, and Universal Media Discs the following year on 25h April. While the original film had Japanese voice acting, it was released in English in UK and North America later on.
The film has many versions, and one of them is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete. This last version, released in 2009, adds director’s cuts to create an additional 25 minutes of watch. While the film has received mixed reviews. it is one of the best-selling CGI-animated films, with the DVD releases selling over 400000 copies in Japan in its first week of launch. By the fifth week, the English version of the film has sold 960000 copies of DVD.
What’s new in the Remastered version?
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Remastered is releasing on 8th June, which is two days earlier than the release of Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade for PlayStation 5. Final Fantasy VII: Every Crisis is another mobile RPG game being developed by Square Enix. This title is expected to combine all the timelines of Final Fantasy VII, FF7: Advent Children, FF7: Before Crisis, FF7: Crisis Core, and FF7: Dirge of Cerberus. Advent Children will feature improved cinematic graphics and updated cinematography while keeping intact the originality of the 2005 title. At the time of its original release, the film had the best-looking CGI animation ever. With the remastering of the same film, fans are hoping to see even more from Square Enix Holdings.
