With this partnership, we can expect the gamer’s chat app to make its way to PlayStation consoles.
On 3rd May, we got the announcement from Sony Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Jim Ryan, that they are partnering up with Discord for having the gamer app to get integrated into Sony PlayStation. Last month, according to sources, discord ended their sales talks with Microsoft, to focus on being a standalone company. They were going to be part of Microsoft but seems like it’s not going to happen.

About Discord
for those who don’t know, discord is a chatting platform that was created with gamers in mind, but now it’s become a perfect hangout point for any kind of community. From games to anime to sports to anything, it has all kinds of people from all kinds of communities, making it one of the best places for chatting.
Discord currently has over 140 million users, and most of their business model relies on premium subscriptions they provide to users.
What would this partnership bring?
“Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile starting early next year, allowing friends, groups, and communities to hang out, have fun, and communicate more easily while playing games together.” Chief Executive Officer Jim Ryan told in a blog.
It’s clear that they want to broaden the platform for better interaction among users, which will benefit both companies.
Last Words
It’s great news for both the companies and their users. PlayStation’s users will be able to connect with their friends more easily, and the same is the case with discord users. And with this partnership, discord’s future is not going to get threatened, and we might even get more free features in the future.
