GoldenEye 007 Comes to Nintendo Switch Online
On January 27, Xbox Game Pass and Nintendo Switch Online’s Expansion Pass will officially offer the N64 classic GoldenEye 007.
The much-awaited release date was officially revealed via Nintendo’s YouTube page and the Xbox Wire, confirming when gamers may resume playing as James Bond including both solitary and the game’s cherished multiplayer modes.GoldenEye 007 had just a “coming soon” release window before the two businesses ultimately verified a string of leaks and rumors in September last year.
Inspired by the 1995 movie of the same name, the first GoldenEye 007 was launched on the Nintendo 64 in 1997. The title revolutionized multiplayer online battle royale (at least on consoles) and soon gained a cult status that lasted for years.
While Xbox players will be able to get it for free via Xbox Game Pass, anyone seeking to enjoy the game on Switch will require both Nintendo Switch Online and its Expansion Pass (which includes the N64 digital library).
Only the Switch version will have online multiplayer, making it the first time this feature has been made formally accessible for the 26-year-old game. This makes the two different versions of the game distinct from one another. An updated edition with new control choices, awards, a 16:9 aspect ratio, and up to 4K Ultra HD quality will be available for Xbox.
The official description of GoldenEye 007 is as follows says “In GoldenEye 007, Jump into a realm of espionage as Bond.” You will penetrate underneath bases, rush through an army train, and quietly slip through the bowels of the rainforest as part of your secret operation to halt the GoldenEye weapons station.”
“All along the way, M will give you a briefing on your goals, and Q Branch will assist you with a variety of tools, but the operation’s completion is ultimately up to you.”
