PS5 update is bringing VRR support to 14 games this week, scroll down to know more about the list of games.
Sony has officially announced the global rollout of variable refresh rate (VRR) feature support to PlayStation 5 consoles this week. In the coming weeks, the PS5 versions of 14 games will receive game patches to support VRR. Sony has also revealed the list of the games that will receive the update.
Variable Refresh Rate explained!
VRR or Variable Refresh Rate is a feature available on HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TV or PC monitors.VRR dynamically syncs the refresh rate of the display to the PlayStation 5 console’s graphical output to enhance the visual performance of the games. Once you’ve received the update, VRR will get automatically enabled for supported games. The PlayStation 5 will also be able to apply VRR to games that do not support it. The company says this might improve video quality in some games, and just in case it causes any unexpected effects, the option can be turned off under “Screen and Video” in system settings.” Future games may include VRR support at launch,” says Sony.
VRR update and its benefits
The VRR update of PS5 is quite similar to AMD Freesync and NVIDIA G-Sync but unlike these two, it works on compatible TVs with HDMI 2.1 port only. It improves the gameplay by removing frame pacing issues and screen tearing. Thus it feels smoother as scenes render seamlessly, graphics look crisper, and input lag is reduced. This also improves the picture quality by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts.
