Shipwrecked is a new DLC in the game. It has different mechanics and strategies, and most beginners find a guide necessary for playing it. In this article, we will discuss the strategies you need to know as a beginner and survive through the seasons.
Day 1 Tips
It is advisable to start day one without much pressure. As you progress, you should arrange for more things. Some items you should build are Thatch Pack, pickaxe, and boulders. These will be necessary items in your journey, and any other alternatives will cost you more. Coconuts are food items, found from chopped coconut trees via the Machete. Or, you can chop jungle trees to get fuel, seeds and many more things.
Day 2-5 Tips
Craft a machete, and be very careful of the snakes. They spawn as much as you kill. Deploying the boat in the sea, you can find seaweed, which is edible. Be careful with the waves, though you need to be very skilled for that. Avoid sailing in one direction.
Once in the water, you need to keep some things in mind. Do not go very far from the discovered lands, as you may lose your way and eventually die. Carefully notice the color of the water, as it gives information about the land nearby. Poison mechanics decrease your health if you do not have Anti-Venom with you. If you do not have a Boat Repair Kit, you must have a Log Raft with you.
Gears can be found in the new Chess biome set-piece, Chests, and Sandy Piles. The Slot Machine is also there.
After Day 5 Tips
Place down the following after you have enough food and discovered decent land. Fire Pit, Science Machine, Alchemy Engine, Crock Pots, and Chests should be deployed according to order. Gather Boat Torch and Snakeskin Sails and craft spears or machete for protection. Survival is all about protecting yourself, so a Life Jacket is recommended. You may not need a base too soon because there are so many islands, and you can be nomadic. Use the Slot Machine carefully as it may spawn enemies or gold nuggets.
Seasons
There are different seasons in the Shipwrecked, and each of them requires you to deal with it accordingly.
- Hurricane: Build Lightning Rods, Chiminea, Snakeskin Hats.
- Monsoon: Replace turfs with Wooden Flooring, use Brain of Thought, Sharkitten Den, and be careful of Poison Mosquitoes.
- Dry: Trees provide cooling, but not at the later part of the season, use Dumbrella, sail with a Row Boat and be on a barren island to be safe from meteors during eruptions.
